PRACTICALS Flashcards
1
Q
practical 1 - sub cellular fractionation
A
2
Q
practical 2 - chromosomes
A
- hypotonic - solution is at a lower concentration than the cytoplasm of the cell. This generates an osmotic gradient so that water flows into cell by osmosis. You may also have described this in terms of water potential: molecules of water will flow from a region of higher water potential (e.g. lower concentration of solutes) to one of lower water potential (higher conc of solutes; i.e. the cytoplasm in this case)l
- ovary cells are diploid and undergo mitosis.
3
Q
practical 3 - microscopy and tissue structure
A
- identify unknown tissues through epithelial cells and other organelles
