A - To find out whether leading questions effect estimation of stick length
P - Argument in which a stick is being held. Questionnare w open and closed questions done. Independent groups - one group gets question of how ‘short vs how ‘long’ was stick.
F - Estimation of ‘long’ was 97cm vs ‘short’ 77cm. However Mann-Whitney U at 0.05 significance showed that the result was not significant
C - Leading questions don’t influence recall
Strengths & Weaknesses
S - Standardised procedure. Same questions in each condition, same time to complete the questionnaire
Ecological validity, ppts. were in real environment believing argument was real
W - Opportunity sample. Just people who were in the library at some point, A-Level students all of similar age
