Learning outcomes
Describe the appendicular and axial divisions of the skeletal system.
Know the 5 regions of the vertebral column: cervical, thoracic, lumbar, sacral, and coccygeal.
Understand terms to describe bony features, including: line, crest, spine, foramen, meatus, fissure, sinus, fossa, sulcus, condyle, epicondyle, facet, trochanter, tuberosity, tubercle.
Be able to describe joint types: fibrous, cartilaginous, and synovial and their subtypes.
Be able to classify a joint.
What are the 2 different skeletons in the body?
Axial skeleton
-Protection of organs (skull, ribcage, spinal column)
Appendicular skeleton
-Facilitate movement (pelvis, legs, arms etc)
