A

Maternal

  • FHx of PPROM
  • low SES
  • multiparity
  • cervical incompetence
  • infection (STI/UTI/BV)

Fetal

  • congenital abnor
  • multiple gestation

From Hx: gush of fluid

Approach to woman with suspected PPROM

A
  1. Hx (total obs/gyn/mens, current pregnancy questions etc)
  2. Examination
    - GA
    - Vitals
    - Abdo palp
    - CTG
    - VE
    - USS ( assess: fetal wellbeing, placental location, AFI, GA, fetal abnormalities
  3. Ix
    - fFN
    - high vaginal swab
    - bloods
  4. Mx (next slide)

A

  1. admit

  3. Tocolysis
