PROM: rupture of membranes prior to onset of labor at any GA
PPROM: rupture of membranes prior to labour

Maternal
- FHx of PPROM
- low SES
- multiparity
- cervical incompetence
- infection (STI/UTI/BV)
Fetal
- congenital abnor
- multiple gestation

- infection
- PTL
- Abruption
- cord prolapse
- oligohydramnios

Diagnosis of PPROM
A
From Hx: gush of fluid
exam: fluid on spec/flow of liqor

Approach to woman with suspected PPROM
A
- Hx (total obs/gyn/mens, current pregnancy questions etc)
- Examination
- GA
- Vitals
- Abdo palp
- CTG
- VE
- USS ( assess: fetal wellbeing, placental location, AFI, GA, fetal abnormalities - Ix
- fFN
- high vaginal swab
- bloods - Mx (next slide)

Mx of PPROM
A
more or less same as PTL
- admit
- ABx
- Tocolysis
- steroids
- Monitor wellbeing
- timing/mode of delivery?
- notify NICU
