PPP/TPS based curriculum development Flashcards
Describe and discuss the seven stages involved in developing materials following
the Personnel Performance Profile (PPP) -Based curriculum development method.
Planning, stage 1-5, and evaluation.
Planning
identify resource requirements and sequence of events in development
Stage 1
determine job tasks, supporting skills and knowledge, and level of performance.
Stage 2
determine skills and knowledge taught to achieve learning objectives and instructional sequence.
Stage three
produce instructional materials for instructor and trainee
Stage Four
starts with CCA approval for course pilot and ends with Pilot monitering report submittal.
Stage five
starts after pilot course has been red lined and corrected and end with approval to teach course from CCAletter of promulgation.
Evaluation
surveillance, evaluation, and change or revision to training based on fleet graduate performance.
Discuss the products of the Training Path System (TPS) Stage 1.
TOS, TLA, TAM, TPC
Training objective statement
describes skills and knowledge to be learned
Training learning assignment
lists PPP line items to be taught, where and the level of each to be taught.
Training assignment matrix
summarizes requirements for PPP tables on training path chart
Training Path Chart
shows complete training path for individuals by listing courses in a path.
State and discuss Training Objective Statement (TOS) codes for both knowledge
and skill.
Codes identify each objective statement with its own code. letter/ number is designated to relate PPP line items to training objectives.
State the training objective statement codes.
Skill=TO/S,TO/J,O,P,C,M, Knowledge= F,T. Both are 0-4
TO/(S)
Skill(backround)
TO(J)
Skill(Task/function)
O
Operation
P
Preventitive maintenance
C
Corrective Maintenance
M
Maintenance
F
Familiarization
T
Theory
TOS Skill and Knowledge number codes
0-4
Define the three “Task Sets.”
Who is being trained or who is designing the training.
Coordinator- overall authority(CO,XO,System Manager)
Director-Direct supervisor(LPO-Dept head)
Performer-person who is doing the hands on work on system or equipment.
Discuss the types of courses listed in a Training Path Chart (TPC).
Backround training: prerequisite training to prepare for further training.
Replacement training: preparation for first assignment
Formal school: teaches minimum skills required for a system or equipment
Conversion: new or modified trai9ning on systems or euip. to prior trained individuals.
Advanced: Completes TOS covering particul knowledge and skills requiring further analysis.
Onboard Training:provided aboard ship for individual tech, GMT, watchstations.
Identify when job sheet development should begin in the Instructional Systems
Design (ISD) process?
When TOS is completed to ensure skills drive the force and content of the curriculum
What are the triggers and process for converting PPP based curriculum to Task
based curriculum?
revision or outdated system in course where training only is knowledge or task based.
