PPL Flashcards
Forces acting on a propeller?
Gyroscopic Procession
P Factor
Corkscrew effect
Torque
Forward CG
More Stable
More Drag
Higher Stall speed
easier stall recovery
AFT CG
Less Stable
Less Drag
Lower stall speed
harder to recover stall
Bernoulli’s Principle
High speed reduced pressure
Low Speed increased pressure
Drag
Induced(by product of lift)
Parasite

Interference)
Fog
Cloud on the surface
Radiation fog
In low ling areas like mountain valleys/ ground cools rapidly because of terrestrial radiation surrounding air temp. reaches it dew point
Advection Fog
Layer of warm moist air moves over a cold surface. Common in coastal areas where sea breeze can blow the Fog over cooler land masses
Upslope Fog
Moist stable air forced up sloping over land features like a mountain. Needs wind formation for it to exist. Can persist for days. Higher than Radiation fog as well.
Steam Fog, Sea Smoke
cold dry air moves over warm water. Water exasperates and resembles smoke. Common over bodies of water i the coldest times. Low level turbulence and icing are common with steam fog.
Ice Fog
occurs cold weather when temp is below freezing, and water vapors form directiyl into ice crystals.
