PPI Flashcards
What will your PPI consist of?
How will you look to improve ethnic diversity when recruiting participants? / How will you ensure diversity of your PPI committee?
How will you recruit your PPI members?
Have you considered accessibility issues?
Are your PPI members sufficiently reimbursed and trained? How much time you allocate for group meetings, review sessions and trainings?
How will you develop your PPI skills?
Support for the PPI group- how will you support them?
What have you learned from your PPI group to date?
why a certain group of people is involved in PPI? Is this a diverse / representative group of people?
How involved will you be in the work of the PPI group?
Have you thought of evaluating the impact of your PPI in research?
How will you measure the success of their involvement
How would you describe the challenge of involving your PPI work?
How will you recruit PPI members in the future if you need to - e.g., if some leave?
Do you consider trainings in EDI in your research? EDI courses – Centre for Ethnic studies on cultural competence
For PPI meetings – you allocated £4604 in total for 6 meetings with 7 people – i.e. £110 per person for 6 meetings i.e. £18 per person per meeting. However, the recommended rate is £20 and also one of these is an in-person meeting which will need to pay more time for. Additionally, there seems no cost allowed for meeting prep time – is this required?
You have budgeted £150/person for review time for 3 members involved. Clarify how has this been calculated? Based on £20 hourly rate, this means each person has a budget for 7,5 hours of work – is this reasonable?
In the copy of the draft application I reviewed, the PPI cost line in total breakdown does not add up – PPI costs only £4283 but should be £4604+ £450 = £5354?
Why have you not considered any dissemination to the wider public e.g. via social media?
Can you explain how you carried out your PPI engagement while you developed this proposal? How many, who were they and how did you find and engage with them?
Had you involved any members who had lived experience of being on a dose funding CHIM? If not why?
What advice did your PPI group give in terms of developing the guidance and dissemination to wider public ?
What changes were made to your project plans due to PPI?
What will they be involved in – no mention of recruitment materials
What training will you offer?
PPI group for developing this application – Had you involved any members who had lived experience of being on a dose funding CHIM? If not why?
Will your PPI group help you in disseminating the findings, if so how? -> it is common for PPI Committee’s to disseminate themselves the findings amongst their networks
Where will you reach out to recruit PPI?
Have you considered having an independent PPI Co-Chair to help you with your PPI meetings?
Will you also interview your PPI in your qualitative part of your research? If so would this be considered as co-production?
Will you do any training to your PPI group to help them bring up to speed with the basic contents of your research?
How will your PPI feed across your entire PhD?
A risk of the simulation studies is that they are time consuming to code and run, how will you account for this
