What does the Adult Support and Protection Act (2007) do?
- Local council has a duty to inquire and investigate
- Staff have a duty to cooperate with adult protection
Who is an adult at risk?
A person over the age of 16 who
- are unable to safeguard their own well-being, property, right or other interests
- are at risk of harm
- because they are affected by disability, mental disorder, illness, or physical or mental infirmity, are more vulnerable to being harmed
What duties of cooperation do staff have in relation to adult protection?
- Report the facts to local Council when they believe someone is an adult at risk and action needed to protect adult from harm
- Co-operate with the Council to assist the council making inquiries
