Powerplant & Hydraulics Flashcards
1
Q
THE “EEC” FUNCTIONS ARE:
A
- Regulates a given power, by controlling the stepper motor (in HMU), to obtain a predicted torque.
- Ensures minimum propeller speed control, on ground and at low power = propeller fuel governing mode. The EEC automatically increases the fuel flow to maintain a minimum propeller speed (NP = 70.8 %).
- Delivers automatic uptrimmed takeoff power to the remaining engine (ATPCS) in case of engine failure at takeoff. The Auto-Feather Unit (AFU) of the failed engine sends a signal to the EEC to report the failure.
- Controls the modulated opening of the Handling Bleed Valve (HBV) in order to ensure correct LP compressor operation.
2
Q
A “GATE” PREVENTS “PL” ANGLE REDUCTION BELOW FLIGHT IDLE:
A
- At takeoff, as soon as both landing gear absorbers are released, a gate prevents PL angle
reduction below FI. - At landing, as soon as one landing gear absorber is compressed, this gate is automatically
retracted and the PL can travel down to GI and reverse (below GI).
3
Q
WHEN “ENG START” ROTARY SELECTOR IS IN START A OR B POSITION:
A
- Exciter is powered when fuel shut-off valve is open (CL feather).
- Starter and exciter are automatically deactivated when NH reaches 45%.
4
Q
THE “AUX PUMP” RUNS AUTOMATICALLY (PB PRESSED):
A
- In flight: low pressure in the BLUE SYSTEM, landing gear lever is selected down, at least one engine running
- On ground: low pressure in the BLUE SYSTEM, propeller brake not engaged, at least one engine running
AUTO runs pump as soon as:
- Pressure of ACW blue pump is below 1 500 psi*
- Propeller brake is released*
- Gear handle is selected DOWN*
- At least one engine is running*
5
Q
WHEN PROPELLER BRAKE LOCKING SEQUENCE IS INITIATED (ENGINE ONE STOPPED, ENGINE TWO RUNNING), AUX PUMP…
A
AUX PUMP stops to run when propeller brake is engaged.
6
Q
WITH THE AIRCRAFT ON GROUND AND RIGHT ENGINE RUNNING AT MAX RPM, THE FOLLOWING MAIN PUMPS ARE ACTIVATED:
A
BLUE and GREEN
7
Q
WHEN A “LOW PRESSURE” AMBER LIGHT ON GREEN HYDRAULIC PUMP PB COMES ON, THE CROSS-FEED VALVE AUTOMATICALLY OPENS:
A
False
