26 January 1924 - Second All-Russian Congress of Soviets
“We are the army of Comrade Lenin. There is nothing higher than the honour of belonging to this army.”
Through the speech he reinforced Bolshevik ideology by saying “Lenin knew…”, and spoke very closely to Lenin and his thoughts. This established Stalin as a close disciple of Lenin, and foregrounding his natural inheritance of power.
