Section 18(1) of PACE allows you to:
Search premises (occupied or controlled) of person in custody for indictable offence with inspectors written authority when you have reasonable grounds you will find evidence of that offence, connected offence of similar offence.
Section 18(5) of PACE allows you to:
Search before returning to police station for indictable (and either way) offences without the inspectors authority.
The dp must be present at the premise being searched.
Inspector must be informed as soon as practical.
Inspector to then make written record of the search
Section 19 PACE allows you to:
Seize anything you have reasonable grounds for believing that
- it was obtained in the commission of an offence
- it is evidence relating to the offence or any other offence
- and it is necessary to prevent it being Concealed, Lost, Altered, Destroyed (CLAD)
