Jack uses fear of the beast to manipulate and control the boys, making them dependent on him for protection.
How is piggy’s power different to the rest of the boys
His power is centred around intellect but is marginalised by his physical appearance and strength

Control of the fire represents control over rescue and survival, shifting power dynamics in the novel.
