Is defined as the ability to accomplish desired objectives even if there is resistance or opposition from others.
POWER
Is power that people vest or place in someone that they agree to follow.
AUTHORITY
Power derived from rules and regulations that are enacted legally.
RATIONAL-LEGAL AUTHORITY
This type of authority exists because of an organization called bureaucracy. Hence, it is also referred to as bureaucratic authority.
RATIONAL-LEGAL AUTHORITY
To ensure that everyone follows these rules and regulations, offices are established which are then occupied by people.
RATIONAL-LEGAL AUTHORITY
This is a type of authority found mostly in pre-modern or pre-industrial societies, where values and beliefs are shared by virtually everyone in the society
TRADITIONAL AUTHORITY
As societies embrace industrialization, the demand for rational rules to guide everyday life also increase and dominate.

Rulers are not elected to positions of authority nor are the society’s members given choices on the person they want to rule over them.
TRADITIONAL AUTHORITY
History is replete with charismatic persons who have moved others to drop whatever they’re doing, change their beliefs and follow the charismatics leader.
CHARISMATIC AUTHORITY
A power legitimized by a person’s extraordinary qualities that convince others to follow him or her despite great adversities.
CHARISMATIC AUTHORITY
