polymicrobial infection of the endometrium
pathogenesis of endometritis
indigenous cervico-vaginal flora enter uterine cavity during L&D
s/s of endometritis
fever + soft/tender uterus, leukocytosis
dx by unexplained postpartum fever
tx of endometritis
IV clindamycin + gentamycin until afebrile x24-48 hr
prophylaxis of endometritis
ampicillin or 1st gen cephalosporin
