just below trapezius
A: head extends, rotates, bends laterally
O- Spinous processes and ligaments connecting inferior cervical and superior thoracic vertebrae
I-mastoid process, occipital bone, superior cervical vertebrae
A-together-extend
alone-flex neck to side (lateral)
I- cervical spinal nerves
Levator scapulae
inferior to splenius cervicus
skull to spine of scapula
elevates scapula
O- transverse processes 1st 4 vertebrae (cervical)
I- vertebral border of scapula near superior angle
A- elevates scapula
I- C3,C4, C5 (dorsal scapular nerve)
Anteromedial to LS= Scalene muscles
between ant and middle scalenes: trunks of brachial plexus and DISTAL SUBCLAVIAN ARTERY WHICH BECOMES AXILLARY ARTERY JUST BELOW CLAVICLE TO UPPER ARM
Between ant scalene and scm muscle: internal jug vein
Borders:
ant: post border scm
post: ant border trapezius
inferior: mid 1/3 clavicle
Ant, mid, post scalenes
O- Transverse and costal processes of cervical vertebrae
I- superior surface 1st 2 ribs
A- elevates ribs/ flex neck
I- cervical spinal nerves
Vasculature
Vein: ext jug. vein
Veins and arteries: subclavian, transverse cervical, suprascapular
Innervation
Brachial plexus
CN 11 Accessory nerve
Phrenic nerve (C3,4,5)
