Posterior abdominal wall muscles Flashcards
Insertion of Psoas Major
By a strong tendon to less trochanter of femur
Psoas Major Origin
Transverse process of lumbar vertebrae
side of bodies of t12-s1 and intervening IV disc
Innervation of Psoas Major
Lumbar plexus via anterior branch of nerve L2-L4
Action of Psoas Major
Acting inferiorly with illacus flexes thigh
acting superiorly, flexes vertebral column laterally to balance the trunk
when sitting, acts inferiorly with illacus to flex trunk
illiacus origin
superior two thirds of illiac fossa
ala of sacrum
anterior sacro-illiac ligament
insertion of Illiacus
Lesser trochanter of femur
shaft inferior to it and to psoas major tendon
Innervation of Illiacus
Femoral nerve (L2-L4)
Action of Illiacus
flexes thigh
stabilizes hip joint
acts with psoas major
Quadratus Lumborum origin
Medial half of inferior border of 12th rib and tips lumbar transverse processes
Insertion of quadratus lumborum
Iliolumbar ligament and internal lip of illiac crest
Innervation of quadratus lumborum
anterior branch of T12 and L1-L4 nerve
Action of Quadratus Lumborum
Extends and laterally flexes vertebral column
fixes 12th rib during inspiration
