What is the cause of Post-streptococcal glomerulonephritis?
A
Group A beta-haemolytic Streptococcus infection (Usually streptococcus pyogenes)

When does it usually occur?
A
7 to 14 days post infection.

What is the pathophysiology in Post-streptococcal glomerulonephritis?
A
Immune complexes (IgG, IgM and C3) are deposited in the glomeruli.

What age group are most affected?
A
Young children

What are some features of Post-streptococcal glomerulonephritis?
A
- General: headache, malaise
- Haematuria
- Nephritic syndrome
- Hypertension
- Low C3
- Raised ASO titre (Antistreptolysin O (ASO) titer is a blood test to measure antibodies against streptolysin O)

What is the prognosis?
A
Good.
