Can an occupier claim for damages occurred from a search warrant for Cannabis.

If a claim arises you should
Should be directed to the O/C or the District Commander for consideration.
When a claim arises what information should be considered in the report
- The circumstances of which the search warrant was executed
- The grounds for its execution
- Damages caused and the associated circumstances
- Outcome of the search warrant being executed
- Details regarding the owner of the property and the occupier or use of the property at the relevant time
- The nature of the claim stated by the owner
- Any steps taken by Police and the owner to prevent further loss or damage
If entry to the property is gained by force-entry what must happen with securing the property
Officers in charge should make every attempt to prevent such loss by ensuring the property is made secure without incurring liability
When securing property an Officer should do the following:
- Liaise with the owner or occupier to secure their property
- At the request of the owner or occupier engage with a contractor at the owners expense
- Effect a temporary repair by boarding up a window
