Laminectomy

A
  • Do not sit for > 20–30 minutes continuously for the first 2 weeks post-op
  • log roll in and out of bed–> neutral spine
  • Do not lift/push/pull/carry anything that weighs more than 5 to 10 pounds
  • Do not repetitive and/or excessive bending, twisting/ reaching in any direction
  • Permission from their surgeon before returning to sports and other physical activities
  • Surgeon is advised right away if the patient experiences new numbness, tingling, or increased weakness as this could be a sign of nerve compression/surgical complications

  • No isolated hamstring strengthening x 4 weeks
  • No OKC knee extension strengthening x 4 months
  • No MMT on Hamstring/Gracillis

A

7-10 wks:
- WB in walker boot
- neutral DF
- ankle joint mob
- Core/Hip/Knee strengthening

10-12 wks:
- out of boot
- active DF/PF to tolerance
- stationary cycling

16 wks:
- proprioception & strength training

25+ wks:
- return to sports

Bankart lesion

A

wk 1:
- IR isometric, pendulum
- Splint in Slight Abd+ER–>limit ant. capsule shortening

wk 3:
- active ER–>gradual strengthening
- Avoid combined Abd+ER x 6 wks

3-4 mo:
- Return to spors
