possession
(A term us…)
(With no…)
(Pron… and can be used as …)
A term used in grammar to mean that something belongs to someone or something else.
With nouns we show possession by the use of a possessive apostrophe.
Pronouns change their form and can be used as possessive pronouns and possessive determiners.
possessive apostrophe
A possessive apostrophe is used to show that something belongs to someone or something.
possessive determiner
Possessive determiners are a possessive form of personal pronouns. They always come before a noun. If the possessive personal pronoun does not need to be followed by a noun, then it is just a normal possessive pronoun.
The possessive determiners are: my, our, her, his, its, your, their.
possessive pronouns
Possessive pronouns are a possessive form of personal pronouns. Unlike possessive determiners, they are used on their own in a sentence.
These types of possessive pronouns are: mine, ours, hers, his, its, yours, and theirs.
