What is human ecology theory?
Childs development determined with interaction within the nested environment (family, school, community)
Systems of interacting elements of ecology theory

What is social learning theory?
Based on assumptions- behaviour will improve when appropriately reinforced
Good behaviour rewarded Bad behaviour is ignored

What is reinforcement?
Any action that increases the likelihood of the response
What is punishment?
Any action that discourages the recurrence of the response
What is negative reinforcement?
Any action that reinforce the behaviour you wish to discard
What is attachment theory?
String emotional bind with caregiver is natural part of development
activated by any threatened behaviour
What is classical conditioning in SLT
The feeder with the comfort of being bed
What is operant conditioning in SLT
Infants learn to repeat in order to get things they want
What is direct instruction in SLT?
Telling a child what to do when to do and why
What is modelling in SLT?
Learning by observation and imitation

Parental responsiveness- warmth and responsiveness to child’s needs

Controlling, relies on punishment
What is authoritative?
expects mature behaviour, uses rewards and communication
What is permissive ?
Makes few demands, low communication
What is neglect?
Uninvolved, priorities their own needs
