Serfs were people who were forced to work for nobles and are bound to the land. They are functionally owned by the noble.
Napoleon decreased the power of the church.
He took a lot of its land.
Napoleon gave equal rights to Jews (especially in the German states)
They didn’t have equal rights before that.
Napoleon abolished noble’s privileges.
Before they had less taxes than normal people and they were often punished less severely from the law for doing the same crime.
Napoleon Improved schools and infrastructure.
He built new schools called lycées which were secondary schools that prepared citizens for university admission. He also built new roads.
Napoleon introduced a constitution with an elected parliament.
3 Consuls, Napoleon was the first and the only one with power to make decisions. The others could only suggest to Napoleon.
Napoleon helped artists, writers, musicians, sculptors and farmers.

Napoleon gave people freedom of religion.
They wouldn’t get punished if they didn’t follow a certain religion.
Napoleon made the national motto, “Liberty, Equality, Fraternity”.
Liberty: Everyone having freedom (As long as the law allows it).
Equality: Everyone being equal under the eyes of the law.
Fraternity: Everyone helping each other
