Draw Sheet
A safely device used to transfer residents who are weak and want help walking
Gait Belt
To sit on the side of the bed with the legs hanging over the side

Four rubber-tipped feet and a rectangular base
Quad Cane
The resident lies flat on her back with her head supported
Supine
Rubbing or friction that results from the skin moving one way and the bone underneath it remaining fixed, or moving in the opposite direction
Shearing
Used when residents need to be transferred and are unable to bear weight on their legs
Slide Board
Walking aid used when the resident can bear some weight on both legs
Walker
Lying on their side

Moving a resident as a unit without disturbing the alignment of the body
Logrolling
Initial values that can be compared to future measerments
Baseline
Used to examine the rectum or vagina. Lying on the abdomen, knees are pulled toward the abdomen and legs are separated
