Allows diaphragm to move lower, demonstrates air fluid levels, and prevents engorgement of pulmonary vessels
Where do you center the IR on a female patient for a PA chest?
7 inches below the vertebrae prominens
Where do you center the IR for male patient on a PA chest?
8 inches below the vertebrae prominent
Where do you you center on an AP chest?
3-4 inches below the jugular notch

Which side should be down for a decubitus chest?
The side of interest
Where does the heart extend on a lateral chest?
Anterioinferior to the left hemidiaphragm
How do you determine rotation on a PA chest?
The AC joints… Rotation to the rt side if the lt clavicle is farther away from the IR and rotation to the lt if the rt clavicle is farther from the IR
Why is 72” SID used for chest?
Do decrease the magnification of the heart
