- narrows the face, used as corrective lighting technique for round or plump faces.
- used with a comparative weak fill-in light, can be used as “strong” or “masculine” lighting - adaptable for low key.

- used best with a normal oval face, glamour lighting, best for young woman, high key.
- (bad) will emphasize texture, wrinkles, ears on short hair.
