The ability of a population to survive and avoid becoming extinct

Depends on birth rates and death rates. If a population has high death + low birth rates, it will become v small n vulnerable to disasters n invasive species

Refers to maximum use that a resource can withstand over time without long term depletion.
The maximum amount that can be harvested whilst keeping the population viable
