Population Reads Flashcards
River raise
Villain is probably raising for value.
Turn check min-raise
They nearly always have the nuts.
Turn raises IP are also extremely strong but a little less than x/r OOP.
Flop x/r or raise
While less strong than a turn x/r or raise IP on the turn, flop raises should be treated with far more respect than at other limits.
Triple Barrel
Some players are 2barreling light.
But aggressive 3barrels are relatively rare.
We should fold one pair hands vs 3barrels from unknown players in most cases.
Pot size bet
Strong tell that opponent has the nuts.
Especially if he/she is potting over multiple streets.
Limp-raise pre-flop
This is KK+ with a high frequency.
We should treat this with a ton of respect.
3x 4bet
Standard 4bet size is ~2.2x the opponent’s 3bet size.
If villain 4bets 3x our 3bet size this could mean 1 of 2 things:
- Opponent is likely inexperienced. Fish or weaker reg.
- Strong hand, frequently KK+ (villain wants to stack off).
X/c x/c donk (when river completes)
Common line when most micro stakes players usually have what they represent.
If good players take this line it means that they also sometimes bluff in this spot.
Micro stakes players often don’t bluff here.
Min-3bet pre-flop
Very likely a value bet.
Sometimes includes suited connectors.
Villain doesn’t want you to fold.
Min-raise flop
Indicates a weaker player in most cases.
Medium strength hands/weak top pair.
2barrel in 3bet pot
Treat with a ton of respect.
In reality we should 2barrel quite frequently in 3bet pots.
Most micro-stakes players fire once and give up far too frequently.
Min-bet in 3bet pot OTF
Villain very likely has the nuts.
X/r as pre-flop aggressor
Strong hand
It is a good strategy to occasionally x/r OTF as PFA.
Most micro stakes players don’t know this.
When villain x/r OTF as PFA they are usually getting tricky with their set.
Raises/Leads in multi-way pots
Many micro stakes players don’t lead or raise light in multi-way pots.
Give them a fair amount of credit.
X/c as PFA
Most players do not have a balanced x/c range as PFA.
Medium strength made hand.
