Linear Method
Uses change in population over a period of time and extrapolates that change into the future in
a linear fashion
Cohort Survival Method
Deaths, Births, Migration, and Fertility rates are components of Cohort Survival Method
Exponential and Modified Exponential Method
-Uses rate of growth or decline
-Percent change in population over a period of time to estimate the current
-Results in curved line when graphed
Symptomatic Method
Uses data available to indirectly related to population size
-Example: Using average household size x single family permits in a year
Step Down Ratio Method
Uses the ratio of the population in a city and a county at a known point in time to estimate the current population size
