Birthrate
The average number of children born in a year, for every thousand people in the population
Death rate
The average number of people who die in a year, out of every thousand people in the population
Dense population
A lot of people living in a small area
International migration
When people move from one country to another
Migrant
A person who moves from living in one place to live in another
Economic migrant
Someone who moves to another place for work, but who does not plan to live there permanently
Migration
The movement of people from one place to another to live and/or work
Push factor
Bad things about a place which means that people are not attracted to live there. Something bad, which makes people want to migrate away from an area
Pull factor
Good things about a place that attract people to live there. Something good which attracts people to migrate to an area.
Population density
The number of people living in a certain area usually expressed as persons per kilometre square
Population distribution
The way people are spread out across an area
Population explosion
The very rapid growth of population
Population increase
The rate that population increases by when births and deaths have been taken into account
Rural-Urban
A movement of people from the countryside to towns and cities.
Seasonal migration
Someone who migrates to an area for a set length of time for work often farm work like fruit packing or helping with the harvest.
