Shows us how birth and death rates affect population growth in countries at different stages of development.
What is Birth Rate?
The number of babies born alive per 1000 people per year
What is Death Rate?
Number of deaths per 1000 people per year
What is natural population change?
Birth rate - death rate (can be positive or negative)
What is Population structure
The make-up of a population in terms of age and gender
What is urbanisation?
Growth of towns and cities due to rural to urban migration
What is Agricultural change
Improvements in farming technology
What is sustainable population growth?
When population numbers match the planets resources
What is ‘population policy’
Measures aimed at effecting population growth, usually by altering birth/death rates or migration.

Any method used to prevent pregnancy
What is ‘ageing population’?
What the median age of a country rises due to rising life expectancy or failing birth rates

The proportion of a population that are working age

The movement of people from place to another
What is a push factor?
Something that makes people want to move away from a place (can be social, economic or environmental)
What is a pull factor?
Something that makes people want to move towards a place (can be social, economic or environmental)

What is a refugee?
Someone who flees to another country to escape from war, persecution or a natural disaster.
What is a ‘economic migrant’?
A person who travels from one country to another to order to improve their standards of living and seek work.
