- businesses able to grow because we see convention and cooperation of shared stock companies

- urban primacy: one city becomes more dominant than other cities
- over-urbanization: population growth outpaces provision of services and economic development

- city is about corporate growth
- corporate suburb: built by large developing companies
- attract people because of relatively lower cost compared to other housing
