What happens in the first stage of the DTM

A

Description–Birth & Death rates are high so pop is low and not growing.
Explanation–
Birth rates are high as families are having many children as infant mortality is high.They also need larger families to work land.
Death rates are high as poor sanitation and lack of clean running water causing diseases like cholera to spread more quickly.Also lack of medicine

A

Description–Death rate starts to fall but birth rate remains high eg.India
Explanation–
Birth rates are high as couples were having larger families to work the land
Death rates are starting to drop due to the advancement of medice and medical care.There was also improved sanitation and clean running water.

Description–Death rates is still falling but at a slower rate and birth rates are starting to drop but its still natural increase eg.Brazil
Explanation–
Birth rates are dropping as families have access to contraception and women are not having children until their early 30’s as to pursue their education or carer resulting in fertility declines with age for women.
