What is a Physical Map?
Physical maps show the natural details of the land and water included in the area. Makers of physical maps use colors and gradients of colors as well as different types of lines and symbols to depict elevation and different types of land. While a political map focuses on cities, capitals and political boundaries, the physical map depicts the geography of the area. Many maps, however, combine features of the two types to one degree or another.

A climate map shows information about the climate of an area. These maps can show things like the specific climatic zones of an area based on the temperature the amount of snow an area receives or the average number of cloudy days. These maps normally use colors to show different climatic areas.

The mollweide map is very shapely and curvey but it is perfectly equal

The Gall Peters map is a more accurate distance map, also known as the equal area map, although it does look quite stretched.
