Sildenafil
A
- Treatment of ED in adult men (aged 18 years and over)
- 1x50mg tablet ONE HOUR before sexual activity

Sildenafil contraindications
A
- Co-administration with guanylate cyclase stimulators (e.g. riociguat)
- Co-administration with ritonavir
- Co-administration with nitrates such as nicroandil
- Within 6 months of MI, or stroke, unstable angina or severe cardiac failure
- Severe hepatic impairment
- Hypotension
- Known hereditary degenerative retinal disorders such as retinitis pigmentosa
- Loss of vision in one eye because of non-arteritic anterior ischaemic optic neuropathy (NAION)
- Anatomical deformation of the penis
- Women
- Men under the age of 18 years

Referral points for sildenafil
A
- administration with CYP450 enzymes
- Co-administration with alpha blocker treatment (e.g. doxazosin or tamsulosin)
- Severe renal impairment
- Mild to moderate hepatic impairment
- History of bleeding disorders or active peptic ulceration
- Patients who have conditions which will predispose them to Priapism (e.g. sickle cell anaemia, multiple myeloma or leukaemia)
