POM L6 Flashcards
What is the basis of Kanaban system? What is its challenge ?
PULL: its event-based; Only produce what will actually be consumed
Challenge: keeping the pipeline filled
What is Kaizen ?
continuous optimization of work methods/capacities in regard to cost, time and quality
(Recognize potential, Analyse, Change the process)
What are 5 Core Practices of the Kanban Method ?
1) Visualize the current workflow
2) Limit the work in progress (WIP)
3) Measure and optimize the flow
4) Make policies explicit
5) Work together to optimize the process in small steps (Kaizen)
What does Little‘s Law say ? (Throughput)
Throughput = WIP (Work In Progress) / Cycle Time
What is slack time ?
slack time is the time when the system is blocked and the WIP does not allow starting a new task
What is Lead/ Cycle Time ?
Lead time: clock starts when the request is made and ends at delivery
Cycle time: clock starts when work begins and ends at delivery
What does Kanaban stand for ?
- Transparency
- Optimization
- Personal responsibility
What are properties of Kanaban?
#Kanban does not solve problems, it simply makes them visible! #Kanban begins with the current state and process of a system #Kanban is evolution and not revolution #Kanban focuses on people and not on mechanics #Kanban requires to rethink traditional managementv #Kanban does not favor a specific management approach! #Kanban can be combined with different approaches
Kanban enables ?
#Incremental process tailoring (at runtime throughout the process) #Process Change / Improvement Management
