Polymers and Life Flashcards
Acyl Chloride + Ammonia –>
Primary amide + hydrogen chloride
Acyl chloride + amine –>
Secondary amide + hydrogen chloride
What causes the M+1 Peak in a mass spectrometer?
The presence of carbon 13 isotope
What is an enzyme inhibitor
A molecule that binds to the substrate of an enzymes active site to limit it’s activity. It becomes competitive when the inhibitor binds to the active site of the enzyme so that another cannot fit to it
What are the four stages of an enzyme catalysis?
Enzyme + substrate (E)
Enzyme in the substrate (ES)
Enzyme-product complex (EP)
Enzyme (E)
Sketch a graph for the effect of an enzyme on rate of reaction compared to without an enzyme labeling each stage of the enzyme’s reaction.
