LEGITIMACY
perception that an act actor group or institution is justified in its exercise of power: thought to transform power into authority.
POLITICAL PERSPECTIVES

doctrine of individual ministerial responsibility.
Ministers are individually responsible to the parliament for actions taken under their authority.

Oldest political party in australia. established in 1901. known as the ‘party of initiative’. They have been in government since being elected in the 2022 federal election in Australia.
Role of Labor Party/ what do they do?
seek to form government through contesting elections

if they can form government they can put money and support into cheaper childcare, cheaper medicines, tackling climate change and creating jobs.
advocate for social policies and environmental policies and labour policies
if they form executive government, they are able to pass around some funds.

why is pork barrelling a problem?
pork barrelling can, under certain circumstances, involve serious breaches of public trust and conduct that amount to corrupt conduct.
