First attempt to structure an American Government. (Written in 1776 during second Continental Congress)
Continental Congress
Convention of delegates called together from 13 Colonies during American Revolution.
Why were the Articles of Confederation not legitimate?
- They limited Government power in military, trade, and funding.
Shay’s Rebellion
Former army personnel during the American Revolution. Led rebellion against the government to force them to stop prosecuting debtors and confiscate lands.
Constitutional Convention Date?
May 25, 1787. Was the Second attempt of a convention to resolve the faults of the Articles of Confederations.
Natural rights
also known as “Unalienable rights,” Life, Liberty & Pursuit of Happiness. (in Declaration of Independence.)
