Journalists and Bloggers
They have been harassed if they try to report on the alleged corruption within the ANC.
The govt tried to limit the rights of bloggers and journalists when the ‘national interest’ supposedly at stake using an apartheid era law ans the terrorism act.
Example
In 2013 Zuma tried to ban journalists from photographing his private home after he had reportedly spent 25M of government funds refurbishing it
Voting
All citizens have the right to vote ever 5 years in general elections to elect the National Assembly Manx provincial legislators.
Party List
Arguably encourages voters to participate as seats are allocated proportionally which means there’s less wasted votes and more voter choice compared to other systems
Example
2019 general election every voter had 48 parties on their ballot paper
However in fptp there are no constituencies for citizens to participate in politics
For example, MPs do not hold surgeries like they do in the UK
Since the post apartheid era, ANC has dominated every party despite being so many parties on the paper
