A compromised Protestant Church with Catholic elements with the vast majority happy.
Personal Monarchy
Power of crown was theoretically absolute, supported by the Divine Right of Kings + Rebellion = sin.Monarchs personality could effect policy.
Royal Prerogative
Range of powers held by Crown that could/should not be challenged
Absolutism
Form of government with monarch with unlimited powers, specifically able to raise money + taxes with no Parliament
Subsidy
A form of economic support for a particular undertaking, a sum of money to promote/aid policies eg warfare. Crown subsidy came in form of Parliamentary tax on land + property
Unwritten Constitution
England had no written constitution - mix of Parliamentary laws, common law and documents
Great Chain of Being
Sea of ordered society set in place by God everyone was linked + must accept their place
Political Nation
Refers to those people with economic, political and social influence
Royal Proclamation
Where the King declares a law without Parliament
