A

The soviet military invaded Afghanistan. The us president Jimmy Carter issued and ultimatum to withdraw their troops. USSR refuses, so carter announced USA would boycott the Olympics and encourage other countries to do so. A total of 65 countries boycotted from the games.

A

Because the USA disagreed that the soviet invasion was to reinforce countries communist regime against Islamic rebel forces. They feared ussr colonialism and trying to permanently occupy Afghanistan. Opposed to any spread of communism.

8 members of black September entered the Olympic village and took members of the Israeli team hostage. The terrorist demanded the release of 234 Palestinians in the Israel prison. They refused. Terrorists agreed to be flown to Egypt with hostages but German police attempted a rescue, but it went wrong. All hostages and some terrorists and a German police officer were killed. The IOC said to continue to games
