the phenomenon by which ideas circulate inside a closed system, and users seek out only those sources of information that confirm or amplify their values
Transmission model
a model that distinguishes between five different elements or components in any communication, of which the message itself is only one
Reinforcement
a mechanism by which the media strengthens existing opinions
Agenda-setting
a mechanism by which the media influence what we think and talk about, and make non-reported events fade away from public attention
Framing
a mechanism by which the media decide how an event is narrated
Priming
a mechanism by which the media influence how we interpret events beyond those in a particular story
Propaganda
information used to promote a political cause or ideology to control or change public minds.
