  • us isolationism lead to higher tarrifs and + german sanctions
  • german exports back to 1923 levels of 10 bil marks by 1926 - 12 billion
  • 1929 - exports at 34% hgiher than 1023

  • pres hindenburg landowner so was able to block laws ie. 1918 reichs law of settlement to redistrib land to poor
  • wealthy ppl were able to push for higher subsidies

  • taxed loans but ppl didnt like tax as it reduced disposable income
  • 1913 - the lowest tax bracket was 47%
  • 1926 it was 62%
  • 1928 - 55%
  • economy built on foreign loans so depression affected them
