The Policy Development Process (PACDRAM) what is pacdram?

A

Problem – Identify the Issue– a catalyst from the internal or external environments has sparked the need for change.

Analyze - Research policies of other organizations as alternatives. Research into what policy is needed.

Consult – Stakeholders are informed of possible policy change and feedback is sought from them

Draft - a draft policy is written based on research and stakeholder input.

Review – Policy is reviewed with stakeholder input and adjustments can be made.

Approval –senior management sign off on the policy and it is implemented in the organization.

Monitor – Evaluate & assess using set criteria if the change was effective at solving the original problem. Changes made if necessary.

  2. Can prevent legal problems including compliance issues which may limit the liability of the business
