Process for control, notification, and handover of fire scenes:

  1. Fire service has authority while a fire is in progress
  2. Fire service notifies police if they consider it may have been intentionally lit
  3. if Police seek authority of a scene, they will confer with the Incident Controller
  4. Fire will not normally handover untill the danger of fire, structural collapse, or exposure have been identified, eliminated (or isolated or minimised)
  5. For multi agency investigations, agencies to consult prior to scene examination
  6. Investigation plan to include the role of each agency.
