Q

Does a loose pre flop style equate to a higher win rate?

A

No, because it’s a handicap playing poor hands pre flop no matter how well you play.

Q

Using over-bet strategy for value (when the opponent calls too frequently).

A

Typically fish and LAGs

LAGs like to bluff; therefore, they like to sniff out bluffs.

Q

Using an over-bet strategy to force a fold.

A

TAGs and Nits
(Usually when boards get too wet and they fail to protect their hand-raise-it’d mean their range is capped, I.e., c/r with top of range)

Q

What type of games can you profitably barrel flop and turn, as the raiser, and show a profit?

A

Usually tables where there are nits and the action ends on the turn.

  • A good two barrel flop is high card below a King and loosely coordinated.
  • A Cbet and give up flop would be ace-high and disconnected.

Q

What should you do on loosely coordinated flops (J85ss) and a brick on the turn? And with what types of players?

A
  • Bomb the turn b/c its hard for opponent to have a good hand in this situation. Additionally, your opponent will feel a need to “protect” their strong hands from draws.
  • Nearly everyone but more emphasis against nits, loose-passive fish, and TAGs.

Q

You’ve bet flop and turn against a fish. Now the river bricks the draws or completes an unlikely draw. Should you bet? And why?

A

Yes you should bet b/c often times the fish will have been drawing and made a pair along the way, or just have top pair thinking you’re on a draw, or flopped a pair with a draw and calling you down.

Q

What is the idea behind pot controlling?

A

The idea behind pot controlling is avoiding a situation where your opponent bluff raises the turn with a high frequency; therefore, you will trade off for a bluff on the river from your opponent.

Q

If some players, that like splashing around, limp in before you and you hold J7ss in the CO, what should you do and why?

A

You can consider over limping purely for the implied odds. Raising would also bloat the pot in a situation where you are not an equity favorite.
Against players that are payoff monkeys, you keep the pot small pre flop and look to hit your hand and exploit the error of them calling off big bets when they’re beat.

Q

With an Internet kid in the SB, what should you do if a competent player is marked with a strong range that raised in middle position and you hold J7ss in the CO?

A

Fold or 3bet bluff. Calling could possibly invite the button to call and you won’t have position. In addition the internet kid can squeeze and you’ll be forced to fold.

17
Q

Should over limping, purely for the implied odds, be done often?

A

No, but if there are players that are splashing around its ok to buy that lottery ticket.
