Pof 1 Flashcards
What factors will increase stall speed?
Sweepback, fwd cg, increased weight/mass, idle power setting, clean configuration, low aspect ratio, landing gear down, contamination
What will decrease your stalling speed?
Dirty configuration, decreased mass/weight, power on, sweepback, cg aft, high aspect ratio, uncontaminated clean aircraft
Stalling Aoa increases or reduces with increase in speed?
It will reduce.
As a very generalised rule, the slower you are the larger the critical Aoa.
Look at the graph
Stall speed increases with sweepback and increases with cv moving aft. True or false ?
False! Stall speed increases with sweepback and increases with fwd movement of the cg. Moving cg aft will decrease the stall speed.
Power and weight increases the stall speed. True or false?
False! Weight increases stall speed, but power reduces stall speed!
What happens to the nose when in ground effect?
Nose pitches down in ground effect due to decreased down force on the tail
The stalling angle reduces in ground effect. True or false?
True!
What happens to the asi on leaving ground effect?
Reads correctly again
What happens to the effective airflow, effective aoa and Downwash when travelling slowly?
Effective airflow is steeper, effective aoa is reduced, downwash is increased
What are the axis on the polar drag curve?
Cl cd
What are the axis on the total drag curve?
Drag, Ias
Static pressure increases or decreases in a diverging flow?
Increases. It decreases in a converging flow
Dynamic pressure is…..
Kinetic energy in the air
What is vmd?
Velocity minimum drag
What is vso?
Velocity specified landing
