Figurative language
Language used for descriptive effect, often to imply ideas indirectly.
Lyric poetry
Poetry that expresses strong personal feelings about an object, person, or event.
Rhyme scheme
The pattern of rhyme formed by the end rhyme in a stanza or a poem.
Narrative poetry
Verse that tells a story.
Onomatopoeia
Sounds like: boom crash buzz ect.
Imagery
Descriptive language that appeals to one or more of the 5 senses.
Metaphor
A figure of speech that compared or equates 2 seemingly unlike things.
Personification
Giving a non-human similarities of human like things.
Hyperbole
Exaggeration
Simile
A figure of speech that uses like or as.
Idiom
An expression that means something else than its literal meaning.
Alliteration
The repetition of the same sounds in the beginning of a sentence.
Consonance
The repetition of consonants at the end of sentences.
