A

It is a poem divided into an octave (8 lines) and a sestet (6 lines). There is a shift in tone or subject between these two. Rhyme scheme is usually ABBA ABBA CDC CDC- very regular.

A

It’s divided into 3 quatrains, and ends with a rhyming couplet. The couplet usually either summarises of quatrain, or adds a twist/ new way of thinking about the theme of subject matter. Rhyme scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GG
