Name a structural feature in Bayonet Charge - and why it was used.

A

Lots of dashes (-) used as a quick pause to make everything seem very fast. Creates a sense of panic for the reader which is similar to the speaker in a battlefield. (Enjambment is also used in the same way)

A

“I see every round as it rips through his life -“ - “End of the story, except not really” - “the image of agony” - about PTSD and true side of war.

A

“All my words rolled, turned into felt,” - “released a bird song from its cage” - about mother as she waves her son off too war. About the domestic effects of war like “War Photographer”. Has semantic field of textiles, a motherly sort of thing.

Name one or two things about “War Photographer”.

A

“Belfast. Beirut. Phnom Penh.” - “running children in a nightmare heat” - “A strangers features faintly start to twist” - About a war photographer that sees horrific things, takes pictures of memories as he goes home. He describes the horrors of these pictures and the domestic affect it also has on him. Lots of double-meanings.
